Canopy – a must see

Today is the official cinema launch of Australian war film Canopy. The compelling story of an Australian fighter pilot shot down in combat who awakens suspended in the treetops of the Singapore jungle.

I had the absolute immersive pleasure of seeing the Australian Premier of Canopy at the Gold Coast Film Festival followed by a Q&A with first time feature film director Aaron Wilson. Also there where Alan Crabb, co-founder of Pozzible, the crowd funding group who helped them raise the funds to employ the sound technicians that ensure this incredible experience in cinema, and the Visual Effects team. It was a fantastic opportunity to explore the film making process of this ground breaking film.

Brisbane audiences can catch Canopy at Palace Centro this weekend. For other venues log on to www.conopythefilm.com and check it out at www.facebook.com/canopythefilm. Don’t miss it!

GCFF Supanova & Celebrities

WoW, Gold Coast Film Festival – so much fun!

John & I held a Q&A with Noah Hathaway at the free screening of ‘The Neverending Story’ as part of the kids program of Gold Coast Film Festival 2013. He was so nice & gracious with his time, had his photo taken with everyone there, and gave us a real behind the scenes insight into the movie making process and of being a child to adult actor.

We joined in the Supanova Cosplay Parade, with the Star Wars 501st Legion, The Hoff & heaps of cool costumers. Too cool……… Love a dress up – well don’t miss the comedy film Lloyd the Conqueror tonight at 7pm with LARP (Live Action Role Playing) costumers to greet you from 6pm.

The Sushi Girl cast and crew were so lovely and the film is getting rave reviews so don’t miss the final screening Saturday 27 April at 1.15pm.

Hope to see you at Turkish film Beyond the Hill on Wednesday night.

Cool Japan

2011 Gold Coast Film Festival saw the Australian premiere of the Japanese Anime ‘Children who Chase Voices from Deep Below’. Here to introduce the film on the opening night and to deliver a free public seminar was the films producer Mr Noritaka Kawaguchi.

It was great to catch up again with Noritaka, we gave him a tour of JCCW last year. Nominated for an APSA award, he was presented with a replacement for his 2007 APSA award which was smashed during the 2011 earthquake and Tsunami in Japan.

Gold Coast Film Festival 2012 will be here soon as the date has moved to April, to coincide with our Supernova cultural partnership. More free seminars, as well as Mater classes, Anime, Foreign films, Australian premieres and free outdoor Kids films are in store so log on and become a subscriber for all the latest updates. www.gcfilmfestival.com
